Hi! I’m Carmen and welcome to Make Real Cents- a blog dedicated to helping you achieve financial greatness by teaching you all about the do’s and dont’s of personal finances with a hint of humor on the side.
Back in 2009, I graduated from college with my B.S. in Finance. I had my degree in one hand and a hoggishly bunch of student loan debt in the other and of course, I thought I had it all figured out but boy was I wrong. My plan was simple- I would work on Wall Street, make a bunch of money, and retire at like 36! Easier said than done, I know.
Since graduation, I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked at a few major Wall Street firms and I have had the opportunity to learn a thing or two about how wealthy individuals build their financial empires.
And for the record, I am not a CFP (certified financial planner), I did not graduate at the top of my class, I did not have a lot of help (I come from a single parent home) while I was in school, I wasn’t on a scholarship, I worked all throughout college struggling to pay rent/buy food, and I sucked when it came to anything related to Nueva Gerona MONEY. Needless to say, I have made a few wrong turns in the area of personal finance and want to teach people the valuable lessons I’ve been able to learn along the way.
Thanks for stopping by and learning more about my journey towards becoming debt free. Be sure to subscribe for more lessons and posts about how to make real cents of your personal finances!
